Mammography is the most effective method for detecting breast cancer in the earliest, most easily treatable stage, long before it can be detected by physician examination. Screening mammography is used for women who are not experiencing any symptoms. A diagnostic mammogram may be ordered when a woman is experiencing pain, discharge, if they have found a lump, or when a screening mammogram reveals an abnormality or suspicious area.
Southwest X-Ray is leading in the transition from outdated analog equipment to an integrated suite of technical advances, pushing the science of mammography forward. We are proud to offer the Hologic Selenia digital mammography system to our patients. This is a state-of-the-art system that incorporates digital Computer-Aided Detection (CAD). When CAD is activated, it provides clinicians with R2 CAD, an added tool for the recognition of cancers at earlier stages
In preparation for your exam
Southwest X-Ray provides a secure, private and convenient mammography suite, with personal attention to every patient. On the day of your mammogram you should not wear any deodorant, talc, or powder deodorants that may cause artifacts during imaging and mimic breast disease. Wear comfortable and loose-fitting two-piece clothing. If you are pregnant or think you may be, inform your physician or our staff prior to your mammogram.
